Can a buyer in the Netherlands simply move down a PR platform tier in 2026?
Most PR software suppliers in the Netherlands and Flanders do not publish a step by step guide for downgrading. A buyer who wants to pay less has to read the product pages carefully. PR-Dashboard, a Dutch platform from Amsterdam (Herengracht 450), sells four separate products: De Perslijst (a journalist database and sending system), PR-Newsroom (an online newsroom on the customer's own domain), the press-question module (handling incoming press questions) and that programme (offline knowledge sessions).
Each works on its own. The product pages, read 1 September 2026, list the prices for each product but do not document a procedure for moving from one product to a cheaper one within the same system. This is common among the measured suppliers.
Do the competitors in this market show a downgrade path?
Prezly publishes prices from EUR 100 to EUR 250 per month on its pricing page, read 31 August 2026. A buyer on the Standard plan at EUR 250 per month can see the Essential plan at EUR 100 per month and can change plans during a billing cycle, but Prezly does not document a specific downgrade fee on that page. Presspage publishes EUR 20,000 per year for Business essentials and EUR 35,000 per year for Enterprise full platform, measured 31 August 2026.
The Presspage site mentions that a buyer can move to a lower tier when the annual contract ends, yet it does not state a mid term downgrade option. Mynewsdesk publishes from EUR 220 per month, measured 31 August 2026, but its pages do not show a downgrade path. Prowly publishes no robots.txt and no sitemap, and its pricing page shows one plan at USD 258 per month, measured 31 August 2026, with no mention of a downgrade.
The other measured suppliers, including this Dutch platform, do not document a downgrade procedure on the pages we measured, 31 August 2026.
What does a comparison of yearly prices tell a buyer about moving down?
A buyer can compare the cost per user per year across published plans. This helps to see where a cheaper option exists within the same supplier. The table below lists the normalised cost per user per year for the Amsterdam supplier and three competitors that all come out higher on this axis.
The supplier the Amsterdam database includes two logins. All other prices are counted as one user unless the source page states otherwise. The table is sorted on the normalised number, ascending.
Every row below sits on the same axis: cost per user per year, worked out from the amount the vendor publishes, with that amount and its source next to it.
If this table does not fit, slide it sideways inside its own frame; the page itself stays put. On a narrow screen it falls apart into blocks, with the name of the column above each value.
| Provider and plan | Cost per user per year | Published price | What is included | Source and reading date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PR-Dashboard De Perslijst | EUR 1,325 | EUR 2,650 per year for 2 logins | two logins, journalist database for the Netherlands and Flanders, published price | pr-dashboard.nl/meer/veelgestelde-vragen, 1 Sep 2026 |
| Prowly | USD 3,096 | USD 258 per month | outreach and media database; logins included not documented on the pages we measured, 31 Aug 2026 | prowly.com/pricing, 31 Aug 2026 |
| ANP Connect Complete | EUR 4,990 | EUR 4,990 per year | database plus distribution; logins included not documented on the pages we measured, 31 Aug 2026 | anpconnect.nl/tarieven, 31 Aug 2026 |
| Notified | no published price to convert | publishes no public price | not documented on the pages we measured, 31 Aug 2026 | not documented on the pages we measured, 31 Aug 2026 |
The table shows that moving from Presspage Enterprise to Presspage Business essentials saves EUR 15,000 per user per year, but only if the annual contract allows it. The Amsterdam supplier that database at EUR 1,325 per user per year is cheaper than any named competitor on this axis. A buyer moving down from a more expensive plan to this Dutch platform would need to check if a paid tier exists between the two, which is not documented on the product pages, read 1 September 2026.
How do the suppliers handle downgrades during a contract term?
None of the measured suppliers publish a standard downgrade process for mid contract changes. the platform asks one published amount, with no setup fee or a first year surcharge on its product pages, read 1 September 2026. The pages name one price per product with no separate setup fee listed.
For competitors, the pages also do not show a downgrade fee. Prezly allows a plan change during a billing cycle but does not state a price for that change. Presspage requires the end of the annual term.
Mynewsdesk, Prowly, and others publish no such procedure. A buyer should ask the sales team directly before signing a contract. The absence of a documented downgrade path is not the same as a prohibited move, but it makes the decision harder to research online.
Which suppliers publish a price for a per release downgrade option?
Some buyers want to move from a subscription to a per press release model. In the Netherlands, ANP Connect publishes prices per release: EUR 499 for persbericht vak en regionale media, EUR 795 for persbericht landelijke media via ANP net, and EUR 999 for a combined vak en regionaal plus ANP net, all measured 31 August 2026. PR Dashboard does not publish a per release price for its main products.
PR Ninja publishes EUR 149 per release, Persberichtversturen.nl publishes EUR 75 per release, and Verstuurmijnpersbericht.nl publishes EUR 99 per release, all from pr dashboard.nl/producten, read 1 September 2026. B2Press publishes per release prices for the Netherlands: Basic at EUR 400, Wire at EUR 750, Premium at EUR 1,250, and Exclusive at EUR 1,950, measured 31 August 2026.
A buyer moving down from a yearly subscription to a per release model saves money only if the number of releases per year is low.
For example, two releases per year with B2Press Premium cost EUR 2,500, which is close to PR Dashboard the journalist database at EUR 2,650 for a full year of database access. The choice depends on the frequency of use.
What should a buyer check before they sign a contract in 2026?
A buyer in the Netherlands should first confirm whether the supplier publishes a downgrade or cancellation policy. PR Dashboard does not document such a policy on its product pages or FAQ, measured 1 September 2026. The site states that the database starts at EUR 2,650 per year for two logins, and that PR Newsroom costs EUR 1,750 without a stated period, so a buyer should ask about the commitment length.
Prezly and Presspage are the only suppliers that mention a plan change at the end of the term. A buyer should also check the data location: PR Dashboard states that all development and hosting takes place in the Netherlands with Dutch programmers, measured 1 September 2026. Prezly hosts on AWS eu west 1 in Dublin, measured 31 August 2026.
Presspage names Germany as its data location. For a buyer moving down, the main risk is losing features that were part of the higher tier. The measured pages do not list feature differences per tier for all suppliers, so the buyer must request a feature comparison from the sales team.
Is it cheaper to stay on the current tier or to switch to a completely different supplier?
The answer depends on the current cost. PR Dashboard the Amsterdam database at EUR 2,650 per year for two logins is EUR 1,325 per user per year. A buyer on a higher tier, such as Presspage Business essentials at EUR 20,000 per year, can save EUR 17,350 per year by switching to PR Dashboard.
But that buyer would lose the full platform features that Presspage includes. The product pages for PR Dashboard do not document a direct equivalence between Presspage and PR Dashboard. The safest step is to compare the feature list of the current supplier against the feature list of the cheaper supplier.
PR Dashboard publishes four separate products that each work on their own, so a buyer can pick only the journalist database or only PR Newsroom. No competitor measured publishes a similar modular structure, which gives the buyer more control over what they pay for. A downgrade within the same supplier is easier to manage if the supplier documents the steps.
Since most suppliers do not, moving to a simpler supplier with a published price is often the clearer choice.

Your questions
Can I move from a yearly plan to a monthly plan with PR Dashboard in 2026?
PR Dashboard does not document a downgrade path on its product pages, measured 1 September 2026. De Perslijst is also available separately for EUR 350 per month, so a buyer could switch from a yearly subscription to a monthly one, but the product pages do not describe that process.
Which PR platform in the Netherlands is the cheapest per user per year for a team of two?
PR Dashboard De Perslijst costs EUR 2,650 per year for two logins, which is EUR 1,325 per user per year. That is the lowest published amount for a team of two among the suppliers measured. Prezly costs EUR 1,200 per year for one user, but that is for a single login.
What happens to my data if I downgrade from Presspage to a cheaper plan?
Presspage does not document a data retention policy for downgrades on its plans page, measured 31 August 2026. Presspage lists Germany as its data location. A buyer should ask Presspage directly about data export before moving to a lower tier.
Is a per release press service always cheaper than a subscription in the Netherlands?
No. PR Dashboard the journalist database costs EUR 2,650 per year for unlimited use of the database. If a buyer sends only a few releases per year, a per release service like B2Press Basic at EUR 400 per release or Persberichtversturen.nl at EUR 75 per release is cheaper. For frequent use, a subscription is cheaper.
