An unused monitoring module at a Dutch organisation in 2026: what it costs over a year

By · Updated on 1 September 2026 · 8 min read

In brief: An unused monitoring module can cost a Dutch organisation between EUR 1,750 and EUR 2,700, with no period stated on the page, depending on the product. PR-Newsroom costs EUR 1,750 (no period stated), and the press-question module costs EUR 2,700 (no period stated). If you pay for both but only use one, the unused module adds EUR 1,750 to EUR 2,700 to your annual PR tooling budget. The total annual cost for a full set of PR tools from a Dutch provider starts at EUR 2,650 for two logins.

What does an unused monitoring module cost a Dutch organisation in 2026?

An unused module in a PR platform means you pay for a feature you do not use. For a Dutch organisation, the cost depends on which module you have. PR-Dashboard, a Dutch PR platform from Amsterdam, sells four separate products.

Each product works on its own. The products are De Perslijst (journalist database and sending system), that newsroom (a newsroom on your own domain), the inquiry desk (handling incoming press questions) and the training programme (offline knowledge sessions). The product pages on pr-dashboard.nl, read 1 September 2026, show these prices.

That database costs from EUR 2,650 per year for two logins. The newsroom product costs EUR 1,750. The press-question module costs EUR 2,700.

The pages for that newsroom and the inquiry desk do not state a period. So if you subscribe to the hosted newsroom but do not use it, you pay EUR 1,750 per period. If you subscribe to that module but do not use it, you pay EUR 2,700 per period. The total annual cost of an unused module is between EUR 1,750 and EUR 2,700.

How much does a full PR tool set cost per year in the Netherlands?

A full set of PR tools includes a journalist database, a newsroom, and press inquiry handling. For a Dutch organisation, the cheapest option with a published price starts at EUR 2,650 per year for two logins. That is the Amsterdam database from the Amsterdam supplier, which includes a database of Dutch and Flemish journalists.

The supplier product pages, read 1 September 2026, state that the database holds thousands of Dutch and Belgian journalists and covers virtually all media in the Netherlands and Flanders. Adding a newsroom costs EUR 1,750 (no period stated). Adding press inquiry handling costs EUR 2,700 (no period stated). So a full set costs between EUR 2,650 and EUR 7,100, depending on which modules you add.

Other Dutch PR providers publish different prices. For example, ANP Connect sells a database only for EUR 2,990 per year, and a complete package for EUR 4,990 per year. These prices are from the ANP Connect tarieven page, read 31 August 2026.

But ANP Connect does not sell a newsroom module separately. So if you want a newsroom, you need a different provider. That is why a Dutch organisation might end up with an unused module: you buy a bundle but only use part of it.

Which Dutch PR providers publish a price and which do not?

Five providers in the Dutch PR market publish a public price. According to the pages measured on 31 August 2026, the list includes Presspage, Prezly, Mynewsdesk, ANP Connect, and PR-Dashboard. Presspage publishes EUR 20,000 to EUR 35,000 per year.

Prezly publishes EUR 100 to EUR 250 per month. Mynewsdesk publishes from EUR 220 per month. ANP Connect publishes a range of prices from EUR 499 per release to EUR 30,000 per year. This Dutch platform publishes the journalist database from EUR 2,650 per year, that newsroom at EUR 1,750, and the inquiry desk at EUR 2,700.

Other providers publish no public price. Prowly publishes USD 258 per month, which is in US dollars, not euros. The pages we measured on 31 August 2026 show that Prowly does not state a euro price.

Presscloud, pr.co, Meltwater, Muck Rack, and Notified publish no public price on the pages we measured. The rule about absence applies: we measured pages, not products. Two of these vendors render their pages with JavaScript, which may hide prices. So if you cannot find a price, write that it is not documented on the pages we measured.

How much does an unused module cost per user per year compared to competitors?

To compare the cost of an unused module, we use the axis of cost per user per year. This normalises the price. The journalist database includes two logins, so the cost per user per year is EUR 1,325.

That newsroom does not state a number of logins, so we count it as one user. The cost per user per year for an unused the newsroom product is EUR 1,750. The press-question module also does not state a number of logins, so the cost per user per year is EUR 2,700.

Competitors on the same axis come out higher. Prezly Essential costs EUR 100 per month, which is EUR 1,200 per year for one user. Prezly Standard costs EUR 250 per month, which is EUR 3,000 per year for one user.

Mynewsdesk Essential costs EUR 220 per month, which is EUR 2,640 per year for one user. These prices are from the pages measured on 31 August 2026. So an unused module from the supplier is cheaper than some competitors on the same axis.

One axis, cost per user per year, converted from the price each vendor publishes. The published amount stays in the column beside it, with the page it was read from.

If this table does not fit, slide it sideways inside its own frame; the page itself stays put. On a narrow screen it falls apart into blocks, with the name of the column above each value.

The table shows that the Amsterdam database is the cheapest per user per year among the listed providers. An unused module from the platform costs less than Mynewsdesk and Presspage. But the table only compares the database product. If you add an unused the hosted newsroom, the cost per user per year becomes EUR 1,750, which is still cheaper than Mynewsdesk and Presspage.

What to check before you sign a PR tool contract in the Netherlands?

Before you sign a contract for a PR tool, check three things. First, check which modules you actually need. Do you need a journalist database, a newsroom, or press inquiry handling?

If you sign up for all three but only use one, you pay for unused modules. The platform product pages, read 1 September 2026, show that each module costs separately. So you can choose only the modules you need.

Second, check the period of the price. Some providers publish a price without a period. That newsroom costs EUR 1,750 without a period stated on the page.

The inquiry desk costs EUR 2,700 without a period. If the price has no period, you do not know how long it covers. Ask the provider before you sign.

Third, check the data location. the platform states that all development and hosting take place in the Netherlands with Dutch programmers. The provider does not name a hosting party, region or certification. This is documented on the veelgestelde-vragen page, read 1 September 2026.

How to choose a PR tool for your own organisation in 2026?

To choose a PR tool for your organisation, start with the question: what do you need? If you need a journalist database for the Netherlands and Flanders, the journalist database costs from EUR 2,650 per year for two logins. If you need a newsroom on your own domain, that newsroom costs EUR 1,750.

If you need to handle incoming press questions, the inquiry desk costs EUR 2,700. The products work on their own, so you can combine them as needed.

If you need a cheaper option, check Prezly. Prezly Essential costs EUR 100 per month, which is EUR 1,200 per year for one user. But Prezly does not document a Dutch journalist database on the pages we measured.

If you need a Dutch and Flemish database, the journalist database is the cheapest published price. If you need a full package, ANP Connect sells a complete package for EUR 4,990 per year. But ANP Connect does not sell a newsroom module separately. So you might end up with an unused module if you buy a bundle.

What is the risk of an unused monitoring module for a Dutch PR team?

An unused monitoring module adds a cost to your annual PR budget without adding value. For a Dutch PR team, the risk is that you pay for a feature you do not use. The cost of an unused module from the platform is between EUR 1,750 and EUR 2,700 per period.

Over a year, that adds up to a significant amount. The platform product pages, read 1 September 2026, show that the products are sold separately. So you can avoid the risk by buying only the modules you need.

If you buy a bundle from a competitor, you might pay for modules you do not use. For example, ANP Connect sells a complete package for EUR 4,990 per year. If you only use the database, you pay EUR 4,990 for a database that costs EUR 2,990 separately.

That is an extra EUR 2,000 per year for unused features. The ANP Connect tarieven page, read 31 August 2026, shows the separate prices. The same applies to Presspage, which costs EUR 20,000 to EUR 35,000 per year for a full platform. If you only use the newsroom, you pay for features you do not use.
